# Keystone - Habit Tracker

Keystone is a native macOS habit tracker that lives in the menu bar - habits are ticked off in one click, streaks forgive planned days off, and reminders and a desktop widget keep the day in view.

## Your day, one tick at a time.

Keystone keeps your habits in the menu bar, where checking one off takes a click instead of opening an app. A ring fills as the day comes together, and a planned rest day or a week away never costs you a streak. No account, no cloud, nothing to subscribe to.

### How it works

1. Pick a few starters or make your own: a tick, a count, minutes, or something you are trying to stay away from.
2. Tick them off from the menu bar, its right-click menu or the desktop widget - the ring fills as the day comes together.
3. Reminders arrive at the times you set, and the Overview window shows which days and which part of the day your habits hold up.

## When to use it

### Starting two or three habits

Pick from twelve starters or write your own. The popover shows only what today asks for, grouped by morning, afternoon and evening.

### Habits that do not fit every day

Gym three times a week counts in weeks, not days: it only joins today's ring when the week needs it, and a Monday off never breaks the streak.

### Rest days and holidays

Skip a day or start a break for every habit at once. Those days are neutral - no misses, no reminders, and the streak simply waits.

### Quitting something

An avoid habit is kept every day you do not log a slip. Mark the slip if it happens; otherwise the day counts on its own.

### Going to bed after midnight

Move the day's start to as late as 5 am, so a habit ticked at 1 am still counts for the evening it belongs to.

## Frequently asked questions

### What kinds of habits can I track?

Four: a plain tick (meditate), a count (eight glasses), minutes (read for twenty) and something to avoid (no sugar). Each can run every day, on set days, a few times a week or every few days.

### Is there a desktop widget?

Yes, in three sizes. Ticks and counts can be checked off right on the widget; a click anywhere else opens the popover.

### Does it time my habits?

Only when you ask it to. A timer makes sense for things done at the Mac, like deep work. A walk or a book is logged in one click instead.

### What happens to my streak on a day off?

Nothing. Days that are not due, skipped days and breaks are neutral, and a day is never counted as missed before it is over.

### How do reminders work?

Each habit can have up to three reminder times. They skip days the habit is not due or already done, respect quiet hours, and come with Done, +1, an hour later and Skip today.

### Does it sync to my phone?

No. There is no account and no cloud - everything stays on this Mac. You can export a full backup and import it on another Mac.

### Can I get my data out?

Yes. Export a spreadsheet of every logged day as CSV, or a full JSON backup that Keystone can import again.

### How much does Keystone cost?

It is pay what you want with a suggested price of $4.99, and that includes zero. Whatever you pay, the app is yours with future updates.
